He was Chairman of the Cleveland Bay Horse Society UK Breed Committee, Society Inspector and Stallion Inspector, Stud Book Editor, and breeder of the famous "Forest" prefix purebred Cleveland Bay horses since 1941 - a lifetime devoted to this breed. • The silhouette of the horse in both the Cleveland Bay Horse Society's logo and the Cleveland Bay Horse Society of North America's logo is Mulgrave Supreme.

• "... (Mulgrave) Supreme ... is a rich, glowing bay, 17 h.h., but so well proportioned that until you stand beside him, you don't realize his height, and this is something which is true of all good Clevelands. Their symmetry of build is such that their actual height is always deceptive."

• There were only four purebred Cleveland Bay stallions left in the world in the 1950's: Apollo, Cholderton Cockade, Cholderton Druid and Lord Fairfax, plus five of their offspring. These four stallions are now the foundation stallions of the present Cleveland Bays.

• "Mulgrave Supreme, being owned by HM The Queen, is possibly the best known Cleveland Bay stallion, but he is a superb horse in his own right. Not only has he been champion Cleveland Bay five times and won the King George V Cup three times, he has also sired the horse which became his greatest rival, Messrs. Keenleyside Brothers' Forest Superman, who won the Cup four times before retiring from the show ring."

• "...Bay Leaf, when put to Mulgrave, produced the stallion Nobleman, who sired the consistent show mare Forest Foursome. This mare, bred and owned by David Keenleyside, was the only Cleveland to date to have won her way to the In Hand Championships at the Horse of the Year Show."
